My name is Berry Punch. I'm a single mother living in a quiet town called Ponyville, trying to scrape together enough bits to keep the tax hounds off my back for the another month. I've got a beautiful daughter and I'm engaged to the town dentist. Life is good.
But it wasn't always that way. In Ponyville I'm always greeted with a friendly smile. But once upon a time the only greeting I got was a kick to the teeth and a slander against my mother. But that was my old life, back in Las Pegasus. Back when my name was Pinot Noir.
But then everything changed. I decided the mean streets of Las Pegasus were no place to have a future. I decided the life of a Private Eye was not conductive to a cheerful environment. I decided to leave it all behind and start anew.
I decided a lot of things as I stared at that pregnancy test.
I never knew who the father was, though I had my suspicions. The ones who hadn't met their end in some dirty alleyway were not the kinda stallions you built a home with. Burned a home, sure, but not built one.
So I ran. I ran away from my job, I ran away from that city, and I ran away from my past.
But as I would soon discover, you can't outrun your past.

Personally I'd rather see an starting out story in the setup you've depicted, the 'dragged back in' setup is a little overdone, it's more of sequel material for me at least, but you've got an amazing description, you should consider writing it if you feel capable, I know I'd read it
